Serenity Prayer The Beauty Of The Spoken Word

The Serenity Prayer!

The spoken word is a powerful thing when you channel each word with meaning, emotion and serenity through the divine medium.

This is how I view the Serenity prayer.

I first heard this prayer through a Mind Valley Talk by Gabby Bernstein. Gabby is a New York Times Bestselling author. She is responsible for transformational publishing works such as The Universe Has Your Back and May Cause Miracles.

In her talk, Gabby gave an inspiring explanation of her troubles with drugs and alcohol and how she overcame each obstacle. With the power of faith and a burning desire to achieve more and improve her life.

When I first heard Gabby recite the prayer, it brought a tear to my eye. The power of her story coupled with the words within the prayer was so powerful that it brought a type of inner peace – a serenity of mind. So much so that I had to leave the energetic blueprint of the Serenity prayer embedded within the multitude of articles on my site.

Simply because I find it such a powerful and wonderful collection of words.

This blog will look at the serenity prayer, its origin, and what it means to many people.

I hope these words touch you as they have me and prove to be a pillar of strength whenever and wherever you need to call on them.

The Serenity Prayer

.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.

The Prayer

The Serenity Prayer is one of Christianity’s most famous and powerful prayers. The prayer, also known as God Grant me the serenity, is one of the AA Prayers said at every meeting to help recovering alcoholics.

The prayer talks about having the gift of acceptance, which can be difficult for us humans. It also talks about wisdom to know what we can and cannot change and the courage to make the changes we can.

It’s a prayer that asks for God’s help to live one day at a time.

The serenity prayer uses simple language, but it is full of deep meaning that can have a significant effect on anyone who reads it or says it.

Like me, many people find comfort in reciting this prayer during times of trouble, but it’s also a great way to start your day – with peace, hope and positive energy.

This resonates with me as I find the energetic frequency of these words to be very soothing and inspiring.

The Serenity Prayer has three main parts:

Seeking wisdom – The first section is about understanding what we need to change and what we cannot. We ask for courage to make changes and the wisdom to know when and where changes need to be made. Knowing when not to act will save us from making more mistakes.

Acceptance – Acceptance is often mistaken as letting things go completely. This refers more to accepting what we cannot change so that we can focus on changing things within our control.

Faith – In the final section of the serenity prayer, we ask God for the trust that He will help us through our difficult times and situations. With faith, wisdom and acceptance, ‘something greater than ourselves will carry us through.

The Origin Of The Serenity Prayer

The Serenity Prayer is a prayer written by theologian Reinhold Niebuhr in the mid-20th century. Niebuhr, who was associated with Protestant churches, wrote the prayer for a church service, and it soon became popular outside of church settings.

Where Did It Come From?

Niebuhr wrote the prayer for a sermon he delivered at a congregation in Heath, Massachusetts, in 1943. According to some sources, he was asked by a member of the congregation if he could write this particular prayer after noticing that Niebuhr often quoted other prayers at services and sermons.

Niebuhr referred to this as his “gimmick prayer,” and it never lost its religious roots or significance although it became popular outside of church circles. It’s often used today in Christian-based 12 step programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), where a modified version is used in AA meetings around the world: “

A Prayer for Those in Need

The original prayer is printed in the front of Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book, which millions of alcoholics have used to achieve and maintain sobriety. The book tells the story of AA’s founding members and outlines their program for recovery from alcoholism.

The Serenity Prayer comes from one of these founding members, Reinhold Niebuhr, who was a Lutheran minister. Niebuhr had written many prayers for his church, but this one resonated with AA members and became popular.

The prayer’s message is simple: accept what you cannot change, change what you can, and have the wisdom to know the difference. It offers guidance for living a life within your control, free of anxiety about things outside your control.

This sentiment has wide appeal, not just among people struggling with addiction. People dealing with severe illness or injury may find themselves asking difficult questions:

Why did this happen? What will my future look like? When faced with such challenges, there is often no answer except to say that we are human beings and therefore fallible. Bad things happen sometimes.

Accepting this fact — rather than trying to explain it — can help us move forward without being paralyzed by fear or self-pity.

Conclusion

No matter what is going on in your life, if this prayer resonates with you. You will find solace within the words.

They carry a powerful message for those dealing with difficult situations or those who are spiritually minded or religious people.

I just was inspired to share this with you. So if you were divinely guided towards this post, then it’s clear that:
