Factors That Block Us from Trusting Our Intuition:

Trusting intuition can take a lot of courage, and unfortunately, many of us just don’t seem to trust our intuition enough and go with our gut feelings.

So do you ever find yourself hesitating to trust your gut feeling, even when it seems like the right choice? If so, you’re not alone. Many people struggle with relying on their intuition due to various factors that inhibit their trust in this innate wisdom.

In this article, we will explore seven common factors that may be blocking your intuition and provide strategies to overcome these barriers.

Before delving into the factors that hinder our trust in intuition, let’s first define what intuition is. Intuition is a deep, instinctive knowing or understanding without a need for conscious reasoning with yourself.

Often described as a gut feeling or a sixth sense, intuition plays a crucial role in decision-making, guiding us toward the right path even when we lack concrete evidence or logical explanations.

1. Cultural Conditioning

One significant factor that impacts our trust in intuition is cultural conditioning. From an early age, we are influenced by societal norms and values that prioritize rationality and logical thinking over intuitive knowing. This conditioning leads to a fear of going against the norm and questioning our intuitive signals, as they may seem unconventional or illogical.

I find it important to step away from the conventional paradigm. To achieve this, I tend to become a conscious observer of reality rather than being sucked into the third-dimensional reactive mindset. It requires me to understand that from my point of view, I am a spirit having a human experience, and with that knowledge, I know that I am far more than the human body.

With capabilities that are far more than I have been taught to believe, and one of those amazing capabilities happens to be intuition!

2. You don’t believe in intuition

As above and so below, another reason why people don’t trust their instincts is because they don’t believe it’s a real thing. Unfortunately, this issue is something separate and requires each individual person to make their own decisions about intuition and whether or not it should be trusted.

The common idea that ‘it’s just a feeling’ can often be stronger than that and can help you to make better decisions. For that reason, it is important to trust your internal guidance system. So trust the process and, most importantly, trust your inner wisdom.

3. Rational Thinking and Analysis

In today’s information-driven world, rational thinking and analysis often take precedence over intuitive insights. We are encouraged to rely on logical reasoning and concrete evidence, dismissing subtle intuitive signals as irrational or illogical. This overemphasis on rationality creates a disconnect from our intuitive wisdom, blocking us from fully trusting its guidance.

4. Past Traumas, Negative Experiences And Doubt

Our past experiences, such as traumas and negative situations, can also hold us back when we need to start trusting our intuition. When we’ve been hurt or deceived in the past, it’s natural to develop a fear of repeating those negative outcomes.

This fear can overshadow our intuitive signals, making us doubt their validity and reliability. Overcoming past traumas and healing emotional wounds is essential to regain trust in our intuition.

For that reason, practices such as shadow work can be incredibly powerful.

5. Lack of Self-Confidence

A lack of self-care and confidence is another factor that can limit our trust in intuition. When we doubt our abilities and judgment, we often seek external validation rather than trusting ourselves before making a decision.

This reliance on others’ opinions and judgments diminishes our connection with our intuitive guidance, leading to self-doubt and indecisiveness.

Know thy self and your natural gifts. As empowered as I feel I am, I still procrastinate and question myself at times. However, the magic happens when I trust in my abilities, my inner wisdom. And the power of the universe that flows through me. 💫

6. You’re Worried About What Other People Think

In some circumstances, your gut feeling is different to what everybody else seems to be thinking. Due to peer pressure and other external factors, you might be worried about what people will think if you make a different choice.

It’s important not to worry too much about what people think about you since they’re going to form their own opinions and think whatever they want.

Step into the power of self and worry not about the thoughts of others. You are the captain of your ship, and the direction your life heads in is your own responsibility.

Strategies to Unblock Intuition

Now that we have identified the factors that block our trust in intuition let’s explore some strategies to unblock and strengthen this innate gift.

Naturally, we are all psychic and intuitive however, if we don’t acknowledge or develop these gifts, they will lay dormant. Learn to trust your inner voice and tap into the sensory data of impulse.
